A very warm welcome to Season 2017, especially to our new Zebra families. I hope you are already enjoying your experience at the Zebras.
With less than 3 weeks until Round 1 for our Junior boys and girls, I trust we are all getting excited and looking forward to a another fantastic season as a Zebra. Season 2017 is significantly special as the Forest Hill Football Club celebrates its 50th year! You will hear a bit more as we head into the season in regard to 50th year celebrations to be held during the year, and we will keep you posted.
As always, your Committee has been working hard through the off-season to ensure a smooth transition onto the field in 2017, and I thank each and every one of the Committee members for their time, hard work, support and enthusiasm.
Again, we strive to achieve and uphold our core values and objectives-
• Develop our kids through excellent coaches and coaching
• Provide equal opportunity for all, regardless of talent or otherwise
• Have FUN (adults and kids), in a positive, healthy, family environment
• Play your footy hard and fair….and barrack hard and fair!
In 2017 we will be fielding
- U10’s (Coach Kev Doherty)
- U12’s (Coach Ryan McCann)
- U13’s (Coach Brian Rafton)
- U17’s (Coach Scott Savage)
- U12’s and
- U14’s (Coach Gary Di Paola).
Thanks to our great Coaches for their ongoing dedication and hard work. A lot of hard work has also gone into getting our Girl’s teams off the ground, and I’m very proud that we have achieved this, as it’s an exciting, very positive step for the Zebra Juniors; particularly as this brings new families into our Club, who previously did not have this opportunity. The girl’s skills are improving by the week! We have good numbers in all age groups with exception of our U12 Girls; we need assistance in recruiting here so please help if you can.
Auskick also kicks off after the Term 1 holidays, and keep an eye out for some Zebra Auskick clinics in local Primary Schools over the next month or so. Registrations are open for Auskick.
I also urge that players who have not yet registered for our Junior teams do so as soon as possible; teams are filling fast, and also this greatly assists the Committee and Coach’s planning leading up to Round 1 on 2nd April. Very simple to register at zebras.org.au, and click on the big link.
Thank you to all of those who have already volunteered for roles such as Team Managers, Assistants, Trainers, etc. I strongly encourage more to get involved and promise you will enjoy it, as will your son or daughter enjoy seeing you get involved.
We urgently need more Trainers (Medical/Sports) in all age groups; we are willing to train you if you are not qualified already! Please let your Coach or TM know if you are interested to be a Trainer, or for any other role for that matter. Fact of the matter is, the boys simply cannot play if we cannot fill the required roles.
We have several Sponsors back on board again in 2017, and urge all to continue support of our Sponsors and in particular using the vouchers that they provide for our Awards Nights.
I look forward to seeing you all at the
Jumper Presentation Evening at the Clubrooms
Friday 31st March at 6pm
and I look forward to a great season at the Zebras.
